Hi, my name is Yu Chi (雨姿). I was born in Hong Kong and am currently based in London. I recently graduated from Central Saint Martins in Ba(Hons) Ceramic Design.
With a background in the fine and performing arts, I channel my experiences into my practice. My work bridges the gap between illustration and ceramics. I focus on the development of surface design through the alteration of the traditional making process.
My work is illustrative, narrative, and I find fulfilment in detail. I frame the beauty in the mundane, treasuring the fragile moments in life. Finding significance in the insignificant, and the soul of the big picture.

Artist Statement
I grew up seeing importance in the small moments and how they give the big picture soul and meaning.
My work commemorates moments in life and memory. I document the proof of one’s existence by creating ceramic vessels and tiles that illustrate experiences and the associated emotions. As a reflection of my beliefs, it displays itself as a colourful mosaic of intricacy. My style is narrative and interlaced with my love for drawing. I focus on moments in our daily lives; in this way, I seek to highlight the significance of insignificance.
I create with sincerity. We will all erode long before this fired clay.
